DUDEN, KURSUNLU WATERFALL AND ANTALYA CITY

As first we visit Kursunlu Waterfalls National Park which is located at 25 km from the center of Antalya, covers an area of 33 hectares. The 18 metre waterfall is on one of the tributaries of the Aksu river and its situation in the midst of a pine forest is of quite exceptional beauty. The countryside around the water forms a lovely picnic and pleasure spot, and offers a nice refreshment, especially enjoyable on a hot Mediterranean summer day.

Düden Waterfalls are a group of waterfalls in the province of Antalya. The waterfall, formed by the Düden River , is located 12 km north-east of Antalya; which ends, where the limpid waters of the Lower Düden Falls drop off a rocky cliff directly into the Mediterranean Sea. We visit today the upper Düden Waterfalls located in a beautiful park areal.

Antalya has been continously inhabited since it founding in 159 BC by Attallos II, a king of Pergamum, who named the city Attaleia after himself. The Romans, Byzantines and Seljuks successively occupied the city before it come under Ottoman rule. The elegant, fluted minaret of the yivli minare Mosque in the center of the city, built by the seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat in the 13. century, has become Antalya’s symbol. When Emperor Hadrian visited Phaselis in Antalya in 130 AD a beatyfully decorated threearched gate with Corinthian columns was built into the city walls in his honour.

Tunektepe cable car (Tünektepe Lift) is serving with 36 cabins. Each cabin has 8 person capacity. The cable car can carry 1,200 people per hour. Tünektepe cable car has a length of approximately 1706 meters and a cable length of 3604 meters. Thanks to the project, the distance between Sarısu and Tünektepe will be reduced to 9 minutes.
